The bigger picture
It’s not always obvious.
Sometimes it’s how decisions are made. Sometimes it’s how people are spoken to. Sometimes it’s the overall atmosphere, or a feeling that your voice isn’t quite heard the way it should be.
You might not be able to point to one specific issue, but something feels off.
Work takes up a big part of your life. Feeling comfortable, respected, and included in that environment matters more than most people realise.
That’s where I come in.
Where to start
If something doesn’t feel right, it’s worth understanding it properly.

What I do
My role within the Federation is to help you understand what a healthy working environment looks like, and to support you when your experience doesn’t match that.
This isn’t about labels or making things more complicated than they need to be. It’s about fairness, respect, and making sure you’re working in a place where you can do your job well and feel comfortable being yourself.
That might mean helping you make sense of a situation, guiding you on how to approach it, or giving you the clarity to decide what’s right for you.
The experience
When you access this support, you’ll start to see your working environment more clearly.
You’ll understand what good culture looks like in practice, not just in theory. You’ll also become more aware of what’s reasonable, what isn’t, and how different environments can affect your experience day to day.
For many people, this removes uncertainty. You stop questioning whether you’re overthinking things and start trusting your judgement.
Ask yourself a simple question.
“Do I feel comfortable being myself at work most of the time?”
If the answer isn’t clear, it’s worth exploring why.
If any of these apply, it’s worth taking a closer look.
An optical assistant felt out of place but couldn’t pinpoint the issue. By breaking down their experience, it became clearer what was affecting them and what to do next.
A dispensing optician was in a technically strong role but didn’t feel supported by the culture. Understanding that difference helped them make a better long-term decision.
A quick insight
A role can look right on paper, but if the environment doesn’t suit you, it rarely feels right day to day.
How I work
I’m thoughtful, balanced, and focused on what’s fair.
If something needs to be addressed, I’ll help you approach it in a calm and constructive way. If you’re in a good environment, I’ll help you recognise that and build on it.
The aim is to support you without adding pressure or unnecessary complexity.
Before you go
A lot of people stay in environments that don’t quite suit them, often because they’re unsure if what they’re feeling is valid.
The truth is, the right environment makes a big difference. It affects your confidence, your performance, and how much you enjoy your work day to day.
When you understand what to look for and how to respond, you put yourself in a much stronger position.
