What does this Optometrist role involve?

A typical day in this Optometrist vacancy will involve conducting comprehensive eye examinations, including contact lens fittings and extended service examinations. You will collaborate closely with the Dispensing Optician Manager, providing training and coaching to colleagues while ensuring departmental standards are consistently met.

This role is integral to delivering a wide range of NHS extended services for the treatment and monitoring of eye conditions. You will be fully supported to gain any necessary additional accreditations required to deliver these essential services.

Responsibilities of this Optometrist position

Conduct thorough eye examinations, contact lens fittings, and extended service examinations.
Support and train colleagues within the optical department.
Maintain high departmental standards for patient care and service.
Deliver a wide range of NHS extended services for eye condition treatment and monitoring.
Contribute to developing new patient services and shaping the department's culture.

Requirements for this Optometrist position

Be a fully qualified Optometrist registered with the General Optical Council (GOC).
Be a registered performer with your NHS area team or health board.
Hold MECs or WECs accreditation, or be willing to gain accreditation within 12 months of joining (funded and supported).
Be on track to meet the statutory points requirement for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Demonstrate the ability to use clinical skills and passion to deliver a memorable customer experience.
Possess evidence of the Right To Work in the UK.
Provide evidence of being on the NHS performer list for the nation you wish to work in.
Supply two clinical references.
If applying in Wales, provide evidence of WECS accreditation & WGOS module accreditation.

Working hours and schedule

The working hours are 40 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
