What does this Optometrist role involve in Gwent, United Kingdom?

Your typical day will involve conducting comprehensive eye examinations, including contact lens fittings and extended service examinations. You will collaborate closely with the Dispensing Optician Manager, providing training and coaching to colleagues and ensuring all departmental standards are maintained.

This role is integral to delivering a wide range of care for the treatment and monitoring of eye conditions, supported by extended service contracts with the NHS. You will be supported to gain any additional accreditations needed to deliver these services, enhancing your professional development.

Responsibilities of this Optometrist position

Conduct eye examinations, contact lens fittings, and extended service examinations.
Support colleagues through training, coaching, and maintaining departmental standards.
Deliver a wide range of care for eye conditions under NHS extended service contracts.
Contribute to developing new patient services and shaping the department's culture.
Provide a memorable customer experience through clinical skills and passion.

Requirements for this Optometrist position

Fully qualified Optometrist registered with the General Optical Council (GOC).
Registered performer with your NHS area team or health board.
MECs or WECS accredited, or willing to gain accreditation within 12 months (fully funded).
On track to meet the statutory points requirement for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Evidence of the Right to Work in the UK.
Evidence of being on the NHS performer list for the nation you wish to work in.
Two clinical references.
If applying in Wales, evidence of WECS accreditation and WGOS module accreditation.
