About this opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Optometrist to join our dynamic team in Eastleigh, United Kingdom. This part-time, permanent Optometrist vacancy offers a competitive salary and benefits package, focusing on delivering high-quality patient care and service.

What does this Optometrist role involve?

Your typical day will involve completing eye examinations, contact lens fittings, and extended service examinations. You will collaborate with the Dispensing Optician Manager to support colleagues through training and coaching, ensuring departmental standards are maintained.

This role is committed to delivering a wide range of care for the treatment and monitoring of eye conditions, supported by extended service contracts with the NHS. We will assist you in gaining any additional accreditations needed to deliver these services.

The practice is passionate about providing Optometrists with comprehensive training to enhance skills and fulfil their roles. This includes a fantastic CPD programme and protected time for further accreditations, fully funded to meet evolving eye care needs.

An optional opportunity for GOC registered professionals is to supervise students, supporting the next generation of optical professionals while enhancing your own development. You will receive full support from in-store, regional, and head office teams for any clinical or service-related queries.

Responsibilities for this Optometrist position

Conduct comprehensive eye examinations.
Perform contact lens fittings and extended service examinations.
Support and train colleagues within the optical department.
Maintain departmental standards and quality of care.
Deliver NHS-contracted eye care services.
Potentially supervise optical students.

Requirements for this Optometrist position

Fully qualified Optometrist registered with the GOC.
Registered performer with your NHS area team or health board.
MECs or WECs accredited, or willing to gain accreditation within 12 months (fully funded).
On track to meet the statutory points requirement for CPD.
Able to use clinical skills and passion to deliver a memorable customer experience.
Passionate about developing new patient services and shaping department culture.
Evidence of the Right To Work in the UK.
Evidence of being on the NHS performer list for the relevant nation.
Two clinical references.
For roles in Wales, evidence of WECS accreditation & WGOS module accreditation is required.

Working Hours and Rota

This is a part-time role with 24 hours per week. The rota is structured over two weeks:

Week 1: Saturday (09:00 - 17:30), Monday (09:00 - 17:30), Friday (09:00 - 18:30)
Week 2: Saturday (09:00 - 17:30), Monday (09:00 - 17:30), Thursday (09:00 - 17:30)
