An experienced 3 days / 24 hours per week (Monday, Wednesday & Thursday 9am - 5:30pm) Optical Assistant is needed for a permanent position in Sidcup, offering a salary of up to £26,748.80 per annum (pro rata for part time hours). What you'll be doing
- Acting as the first point of contact for anyone visiting or contacting the practice in person or over the phone
- Greeting customers warmly, listening to their needs, and taking ownership of queries
- Assisting customers in selecting suitable frames, lenses, and other optical products
- Dispensing single focus lenses, multi-focal lenses, and contact lenses
- Scheduling appointments, managing bookings, and handling administrative tasks including processing payments and orders
- Maintaining product displays and ensuring the store is tidy and presentable
- Working closely with the practice manager, optometrists, audiologists, dispensing opticians, and team members
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in optical retail
- Experience of dispensing single focus lenses, multi-focal lenses, and contact lenses
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong IT skills, attention to detail, and organisational abilities
- A keen interest in eye care and eyewear
- The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
