This is a permanent, 40 hours per week Optical Assistant role based in Oxted, working Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 9:00am to 5:30pm, with a salary of up to £27,000 per annum. What you'll be doing
- Act as the first point of contact for patients visiting or calling the practice, ensuring a warm and professional welcome
- Greet customers in person and over the phone, listening to their needs and taking ownership of their queries
- Assist customers in selecting suitable frames, lenses, and other optical products
- Dispense single-focus lenses, multi-focal lenses, and contact lenses
- Schedule appointments, manage bookings, and handle administrative tasks including processing payments and orders
- Maintain product displays and keep the practice tidy and presentable
- Work closely with Practice Managers, Optometrists, Audiologists, Dispensing Opticians, and the wider team to deliver tailored solutions for every patient
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in optical retail, with specific experience dispensing single-focus lenses, multi-focal lenses, and contact lenses
- Strong IT skills alongside excellent communication and listening skills
- Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities
- The ability to build strong relationships with team members, peers, and clients
- A keen interest in eye care and eyewear, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
