We are currently recruiting for Optical Assistant jobs offering a permanent contract for 3 days / 24 hours per week (Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday 9am - 5:30pm) based in Eltham, paying up to £27k per annum (pro rata for part-time hours). This position within an independent practice gives you the chance to deliver exceptional service using modern diagnostic equipment and a wide range of frames, lenses, and contact lenses.
What you'll be doing
- Greet customers warmly in person and over the phone, serving as the first point of contact for the practice
- Listen to client needs, take ownership of queries, and guide people through the complete customer journey
- Assist customers in selecting suitable frames, lenses, and other optical products
- Dispense single focus lenses, multi-focal lenses, and contact lenses
- Schedule appointments, manage bookings, and handle administrative tasks including processing payments and orders
- Maintain product displays and keep the store tidy and presentable
- Work closely with the Practice Manager, Optometrists, Audiologists, Dispensing Opticians, and wider team to determine the best solutions for every client
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in optical retail
- Experience of dispensing single focus lenses, multi-focal lenses, and contact lenses
- Excellent customer service and communication skills with strong listening abilities
- A keen interest in eye care and eyewear
- Strong IT skills alongside excellent organization and attention to detail
- The ability to work well both independently and as part of a close-knit team
