We are looking for a full-time Optical Assistant to join our independent practice in Egham, Surrey, offering a salary of up to £27,500 per annum. You will be working a 40-hour working week from Monday to Saturday, 9.00am to 5.30pm with Thursday as your fixed day off.
What you'll be doing
- Acting as the first point of contact for clients visiting or contacting the practice in person and over the phone
- Greeting customers warmly, making them feel valued, and listening to understand their needs
- Assisting customers in selecting suitable frames, lenses, and optical products
- Dispensing single focus lenses, multi-focal lenses, and contact lenses
- Scheduling appointments, managing bookings, and handling administrative tasks including processing payments and orders
- Maintaining product displays and ensuring the store is tidy, presentable, and well-maintained
- Working closely with the practice manager, optometrists, audiologists, dispensing opticians, and team members to determine the best solutions for clients
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in optical retail
- Experience of dispensing single focus lenses, multi-focal lenses, and contact lenses
- Strong IT skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships
- A keen interest in eye care and eyewear
- Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities
- The ability to work well both in a team and independently
