What does this Optometrist role involve?

This Optometrist position in Glasgow City Centre offers a varied and engaging workload. You will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with experienced eye care professionals, including ophthalmologists. Your expertise will be crucial in delivering a wide array of clinical eye care services to patients.

Your responsibilities will include:

Conducting pre and post-operative consultations for refractive and cataract surgery patients.
Providing clinical support to ophthalmologists during refractive surgery procedures.
Participating in and delivering YAG capsulotomy procedures.
Performing essential and advanced eye examinations.
Communicating with and treating patients via telemedicine.
Offering clinical support to the administrative team as needed.
Reviewing incoming referrals from optometrists, GPs, and other primary care routes as part of the referral triage team, allocating them to the most appropriate ophthalmology clinic.

Requirements for this Optometrist position

To be considered for this Optometrist vacancy, you should be at least two years qualified with the General Optical Council (GOC). An Independent Prescribing (IP) qualification is highly preferred.

Key requirements include:

GOC registration with at least 2 years of post-qualification experience.
Independent Prescribing (IP) qualification is desirable.
Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
Strong communication and patient care skills.
