We are recruiting for a travelling 5 days / 40 hours per week (Monday to Saturday 9am - 5:30pm) Optical Assistant job in Huddersfield, offering a salary of up to £26,748.80 per annum plus a £3,000 car allowance. This itinerant role supports practices across Yorkshire as needed, making it ideal for candidates seeking variety and dynamic optical assistant vacancies.
What you'll be doing
- Greet customers warmly in person and over the phone to make them feel valued, listening to their needs before taking ownership of queries
- Assist customers in selecting suitable frames, lenses, and other optical products
- Dispense single focus lenses, multi-focal lenses, and contact lenses
- Schedule appointments and manage bookings
- Maintain product displays and ensure the practice is tidy and presentable
- Handle administrative tasks, including processing payments and orders
- Work closely with practice managers, optometrists, audiologists, and dispensing opticians to determine the best client solutions
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in optical retail
- Experience of dispensing single focus lenses, multi-focal lenses and contact lenses
- Full UK driving licence and car
- Excellent customer service, communication, and listening skills
- Strong IT skills, attention to detail, and organisational abilities
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
- A keen interest in eye care and eyewear
