An exciting opportunity has arisen for Optical Assistant jobs in Ewell, offering permanent, full-time hours working Tuesday to Saturday from 9am to 5:30pm alongside a salary of up to £27,000 per annum plus a £3k car allowance. This itinerant position is primarily based in the Ewell practice while providing essential travel cover across locations including Beckenham, Eltham, Maidstone, and Oxted as required.
What you'll be doing
- Greet customers warmly in person and over the phone to make them feel valued, listening carefully to understand their needs before taking ownership of their queries
- Assist customers in selecting suitable frames, lenses, and optical products, drawing on your experience of dispensing single focus, multi-focal, and contact lenses
- Schedule appointments, manage bookings, and handle administrative tasks including processing payments and orders
- Maintain product displays and ensure the practice is tidy, presentable, and welcoming at all times
- Work closely with Practice Managers, Optometrists, Audiologists, Dispensing Opticians, and team members to deliver exceptional client care
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in optical retail with proven dispensing skills for single focus, multi-focal, and contact lenses
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own car, as travel to other practices is essential
- Excellent customer service, communication, and listening skills with a strong ability to build relationships
- Strong IT skills, attention to detail, and good organisational abilities
- A keen interest in eye care, eyewear, and the ability to work well both independently and in a team
