A permanent full-time Dispensing Optician job is available in London, offering a structured blended learning programme to support your path toward full GOC registration alongside an experienced clinical team.
What you'll be doing
- Deliver high standards of customer service and professional advice by offering first-class dispensing practices
- Perform prescription analysis, advise on lens types, style frames, and take accurate facial and lens measurements
- Carry out repairs, adjustments, and fittings in line with supervisory instructions
- Process invoices, credit notes, and check new items into the branch
- Chase outstanding orders, manage contact lens ordering, and handle daily administrative tasks including cashing up
- Perform stocktaking duties and maintain accurate computer records for incoming stock
- Complete 32 assignment units of coursework per academic year and attend block release periods at ABDO College
- Work within General Optical Council regulations and professional guidelines at all times
What we're looking for
- 5 GCSEs at Grades 4–9 (A–C) including English, Mathematics, and Science, OR 5 years of optical experience with A–C in Maths and English
- A genuine interest in ophthalmic dispensing and a commitment to exemplary patient service
- Excellent communication skills with strong empathy, patience, and commercial awareness
- Ability to commit 10–15 hours per week of your own time for distance learning coursework
- Ability to attend two block release periods per year at ABDO College in Godmersham, Kent
- Flexibility for late finishes, Saturday working, practice meetings, and stocktaking outside normal hours as required
