We are looking for a customer-focused team member to take on a permanent 38.75 hours per week Optical Assistant role based in Stratford-upon-Avon, offering a great opportunity to build a rewarding career in eye care.
This is a hands-on position within a busy practice where you will be the first point of contact for patients, helping them feel welcome and supported from the moment they walk through the door. You will guide people through their journey, assisting with frame selection, explaining lens options, and ensuring every customer receives a friendly and professional service.
What you'll be doing
- Welcoming patients into the practice and managing appointments
- Dispensing spectacles and helping customers choose frames that suit their style and prescription
- Adjusting, repairing, and fitting glasses to ensure a comfortable and accurate fit
- Carrying out pre-screening tests, including optical coherence tomography and visual fields, where trained
- Handling enquiries over the phone and in person with a helpful, problem-solving attitude
- Supporting the wider practice team to keep the sales floor and dispensary tidy, well-stocked, and running smoothly
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in retail, customer service, or a healthcare setting is advantageous, though full training will be provided
- Excellent communication skills and a natural warmth when dealing with people of all ages
- High attention to detail, particularly when taking measurements and handling paperwork
- A positive, team-oriented attitude and a willingness to learn new skills
- Confidence using computer systems and till software
