We are looking for a dedicated team member to fill one of the current Optical Assistant jobs available in Grays, offering 38.75 hours per week on a temporary or fixed term contract. Based in a prime location in Essex, this position combines customer-facing retail responsibilities with hands-on optical support in a welcoming team environment.
What you'll be doing
- Delivering exceptional customer service to every patient who walks through the doors
- Dispensing spectacles and helping customers select frames and lenses to suit their style and prescription
- Performing pre-screening measurements and diagnostic tests prior to optometrist consultations
- Adjusting, repairing, and fitting eyewear to ensure a comfortable and accurate fit
- Managing bookings, answering telephone enquiries, and handling general reception duties
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a customer service, retail, or optical environment is helpful, though full training is provided
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
- Strong attention to detail and confidence working with numbers and technology
- A proactive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a close-knit team
