We are currently recruiting for 23.25 hours per week on a fixed-term contract for Optical Assistant jobs based in Westminster. This temporary position offers a supportive team environment in a busy Central London practice where you will help patients find the right frames and lenses.
What you'll be doing
- Welcoming patients to the practice and managing appointments
- Dispensing spectacles to a high standard, tailored to individual prescription and lifestyle needs
- Performing pre-screening tests including autorefraction and tonometry
- Adjusting, repairing, and dispensing frames to ensure a comfortable fit
- Explaining NHS entitlements, private lens options, and current promotions clearly to customers
- Maintaining accurate patient records and handling general administrative enquiries
What we're looking for
- Previous experience working within an optical practice is preferred, though full training is provided for candidates with strong customer service skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a passion for helping people
- High attention to detail and accuracy when taking facial measurements and processing orders
- A collaborative team player who can also work independently during busy retail periods
Salary and benefits
- £11.44 to £13.00 per hour, depending on experience
