We are looking for a dedicated team member to fill a permanent 7.75 hours per week Optical Assistant job in Glasgow, offering a great entry point into the local optical sector. This part-time position is based within a busy community practice where you will help patients choose frames, assist with pre-testing, and deliver a welcoming customer experience from the moment people walk through the door.
What you'll be doing
- Welcoming patients to the practice and managing appointments
- Helping customers find frames and lenses that suit their style and prescription needs
- Undertaking pre-screening duties such as autorefraction and visual acuity checks
- Dispensing and adjusting spectacles to ensure a comfortable fit
- Handling general administrative tasks, phone enquiries, and collecting payments
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in customer service, retail, or a healthcare setting
- Strong communication skills and a confident, friendly manner
- Good attention to detail and basic IT proficiency
- A willingness to learn about optical products, lenses, and eye health
