We are recruiting for an Optical Assistant to join a busy practice in Manchester on a 23.25 hours per week on a temporary, fixed-term contract, offering comprehensive training and staff discounts.
What you'll be doing
- Greet patients warmly as they arrive in the practice and manage bookings and enquiries efficiently
- Dispense spectacles to patients, ensuring frames are adjusted correctly and comfortably
- Take precise measurements, including pupil distances and heights, using professional equipment
- Help patients select frames and lenses that suit their lifestyle, prescription, and budget
- Handle cash and card transactions, collect payments, and book follow-up appointments
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and well-merchandised practice floor at all times
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a customer-facing retail, hospitality, or healthcare environment
- Warm, professional communication skills with a natural ability to build rapport with the public
- High attention to detail and accuracy when handling prescriptions and patient measurements
- A positive, team-orientated attitude and willingness to learn about optical products and services
