We are looking for a dedicated team member to fill one of the latest Optical Assistant jobs in Danestone, working 38.75 hours per week on a temporary fixed-term contract based in Aberdeen.
What you'll be doing
- Delivering a warm, professional welcome to every customer who walks through the practice doors
- Guiding patients through frame selection, helping them find styles that suit their face shape, lifestyle, and prescription needs
- Taking accurate measurements and fitting spectacles to ensure a comfortable and correct fit
- Handling contact lens collections, explaining wear and care instructions, and booking appointments
- Performing pre-screening diagnostic tests, including visual acuity and pressure checks, to support the optometrist
- Managing daily reception duties, answering phone enquiries, processing payments, and maintaining patient records
What we're looking for
- Previous customer service or retail experience, ideally within a healthcare or optical setting
- Excellent communication skills and a natural flair for helping people
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling administrative tasks and measurements
- A collaborative team player who is comfortable working in a busy, customer-facing environment
- Willingness to learn new clinical and product knowledge quickly
