We are looking for a customer-focused team member to take on a permanent 7.75 hours per week Optical Assistant role based in Derby, offering a great opportunity to start your career in optics.
What you'll be doing
- Welcoming patients to the practice and managing appointments efficiently
- Dispensing spectacles and helping customers choose frames that suit their style and budget
- Conducting pre-screening tests including autorefraction, tonometry and visual fields
- Adjusting, repairing and dispensing glasses to ensure a comfortable fit
- Handling enquiries, answering the phone and booking appointments accurately
- Maintaining a clean, organized and visually appealing practice environment
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a customer service or retail environment is beneficial, though full training is provided
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A helpful, approachable and empathetic manner with all customers
- Good attention to detail and basic computer literacy
- A willingness to learn about optical products, lens types and eye health
