We are recruiting an Optical Assistant for a temporary 38.75 hours per week contract in Bradley Stoke, offering a great opportunity to develop your retail and customer service skills in a supportive practice environment. This is a fixed-term position based in the heart of the community, where you will support customers and help the store run smoothly every day.
What you'll be doing
- Welcoming patients and visitors to the practice with a warm, professional manner
- Assisting customers with frame selection, fitting, and styling advice
- Dispensing single vision lenses and handling basic optical repairs and adjustments
- Booking appointments, managing diary schedules, and answering telephone enquiries
- Handling cash and card payments accurately using the in-store till system
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and merchandising across the sales floor
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a customer-facing retail, hospitality, or healthcare environment is an advantage
- Clear and confident communication skills with a friendly, approachable telephone manner
- Good attention to detail and comfortable working with numbers and basic administration
- A team player who is willing to support colleagues across different areas of the practice
- Reliability and a flexible attitude towards daily tasks and opening hours
