We are currently recruiting for an 18 hours per week permanent Optical Assistant jobs Welwyn Garden City opportunity within a well-established local practice. This is a hands-on position offering a steady part-time schedule in a supportive team environment.
What you'll be doing
- Delivering a warm and professional welcome to every customer who visits the practice
- Conducting pre-screening testing, including autorefraction and tonometry, following thorough clinical guidelines
- Dispensing frames and lenses tailored to individual prescription requirements, facial shapes, and lifestyle needs
- Adjusting, repairing, and fitting spectacles to ensure optimal comfort and visual clarity for patients
- Managing booked appointments, dealing with telephone queries, and processing administrative paperwork efficiently
- Maintaining exceptional merchandising standards across the display floor throughout the day
What we're looking for
- Previous experience within a customer-facing retail environment, ideally within optics or healthcare
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with a genuine passion for delivering patient care
- Confidence in dealing with members of the public of all ages and managing varied daily demands
- High attention to detail, particularly when recording measurements or handling sensitive client records
- A proactive attitude towards learning new clinical procedures and product knowledge
