We are currently recruiting for Optical Assistant jobs available on a permanent, part-time basis working 23.25 hours per week in Middleton. What you'll be doing
- Greeting patients and visitors warmly as they arrive in the practice, ensuring a welcoming environment from the moment they step through the door
- Guiding customers through frame selection, helping them find styles, shapes, and materials that suit their face shape, lifestyle, and prescription needs
- Taking accurate facial measurements and dispensing spectacles to ensure a comfortable and precise fit
- Performing pre-screening diagnostic tests such as OCT, visual fields, and tonometry using modern optical equipment
- Handling general administrative tasks, booking appointments, answering telephone enquiries, and managing collection and repair queries
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a customer-facing retail, hospitality, or healthcare environment is an advantage, though full training will be provided
- A friendly, approachable, and empathetic manner with strong communication skills
- Good attention to detail and confidence in dealing with numbers and precise measurements
- A proactive attitude and a willingness to learn new clinical and technical skills within a busy practice setting
