We are looking for a customer-focused team member to take on a permanent 11 hours per week Optical Assistant job in Bellhaven Road, offering a great opportunity to start or develop a career in optics within Wishaw.
What you'll be doing
- Greet patients warmly as they arrive at the practice and manage appointment schedules efficiently
- Guide customers through frame selection, offering honest advice on styles, fits and lens options
- Dispense and adjust spectacles to ensure a comfortable and accurate fit for every customer
- Handle telephone and face-to-face enquiries, booking eye tests and dealing with post-collection queries
- Carry out pre-screening tests including autorefraction and tonometry using modern practice equipment
- Maintain a clean, tidy and well-stocked sales floor that showcases the latest eyewear ranges
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in retail, customer service or a healthcare environment is an advantage, though full training is provided
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a natural confidence when talking to people of all ages
- High attention to detail and good basic numeracy and IT skills
- A proactive approach to helping colleagues and supporting the smooth daily running of the practice
