We are looking for a dedicated team member to fill one of the newest Optical Assistant jobs in Rotherham, working a permanent contract of 31 hours per week. This is a hands-on position based in a busy local practice where you will help patients choose the right frames and lenses while delivering exceptional clinical and customer service.
What you'll be doing
- Welcoming patients into the practice and booking appointments
- Dispensing spectacles and helping customers select frames that suit their style and prescription
- Undertaking pre-screening duties such as autorefraction and visual field checks
- Adjusting, repairing and dispensing glasses to ensure a comfortable fit
- Maintaining a clean, well-presented sales floor and keeping product displays fully stocked
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in retail, customer service or a healthcare environment
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
- Confidence when speaking with people of all ages
- High attention to detail and accuracy when handling paperwork and prescriptions
- A willingness to learn about optical products and develop your professional skills
