We are currently recruiting for 21 hours per week on a temporary / fixed-term contract for Optical Assistant jobs Dundee, offering a great opportunity to join a supportive team in the local area with comprehensive training provided.
This position involves working directly with customers to help them find the right frames, taking accurate measurements, and ensuring every patient receives a welcoming and professional service from the moment they walk through the door.
What you'll be doing
- Greeting patients and visitors warmly as they arrive at the practice
- Assisting customers with frame selection, styling, and fitting
- Taking precise optical measurements and adjusting frames to ensure comfort
- Explaining lens options, coatings, and prescription details clearly
- Booking appointments, managing diary schedules, and handling reception duties
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, and well-organised retail floor
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in customer service, retail, or a similar patient-facing environment
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when recording measurements and handling paperwork
- The ability to work well as part of a busy, collaborative team
- Willingness to learn about optical products and terminology
