We are recruiting for an Optical Assistant to join a busy practice on a temporary 15-hour contract in Milton Keynes, offering a great entry point for jobs in Milton Keynes and across the local area. This fixed-term role gives you the chance to gain hands-on optical experience while supporting patients throughout Buckinghamshire.
What you'll be doing
- Welcoming patients to the practice and managing appointment schedules
- Dispensing spectacles and guiding customers through frame and lens choices
- Conducting preliminary clinical tests, including pre-screening and OCT scans
- Adjusting, repairing, and dispensing eyewear to a high standard
- Handling day-to-day administrative tasks and keeping accurate patient records
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a customer-facing or retail environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A helpful, approachable manner with a keen eye for detail
- The ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit team
- A willingness to learn about optical products, lenses, and eyecare services
