We are currently recruiting for an Optical Assistant job in Dover, offering a 15.5-hour per week fixed-term contract based in a busy modern practice. This temporary opportunity is ideal for someone looking to build their experience in community eye care within the local area.
What you'll be doing
- Welcoming patients to the practice and managing arrivals
- Conducting pre-screening tests, including visual acuity and autorefraction measurements
- Dispensing frames and lenses tailored to individual customer needs and prescriptions
- Adjusting, repairing and fitting glasses to ensure comfort and correct alignment
- Booking appointments and handling customer enquiries in person and over the phone
- Maintaining high standards of presentation and cleanliness across the practice floor
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a customer-facing or retail environment is advantageous
- A confident, friendly and professional approach to customer service
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn about optical products
- Attention to detail when handling prescriptions and patient records
- Flexibility to support the team across operational hours
