We are recruiting a customer-focused team member for 21 hours per week on a temporary / fixed-term contract, offering a great opportunity to secure Optical Assistant jobs in Dundee. You will join a busy, patient-led practice in Scotland where comprehensive training is provided to build your optical knowledge and confidence.
What you'll be doing
- Delivering a warm, professional welcome to every patient who walks through the practice doors
- Guiding patients through frame selection, offering expert styling and product advice to suit their visual and lifestyle needs
- Dispensing spectacles to various prescriptions, ensuring a precise and comfortable fit
- Adjusting, repairing, and cleaning frames as required to maintain high standards of patient care
- Undertaking pre-screening duties, including autorefraction and visual field testing, using modern equipment
- Handling booked appointments, managing customer queries over the phone, and supporting the wider team with daily administrative tasks
What we're looking for
- Previous experience within optics, customer service, or retail is preferred, though a passion for helping people is most important
- Excellent communication skills with a confident, friendly approach to dealing with the public
- A strong attention to detail and accuracy when taking measurements and handling paperwork
- The ability to work well as part of a close-knit team in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn about optical products, lenses, and eye health care
