We are recruiting an Optical Assistant for a permanent, 15.5-hour-per-week role in Pangbourne, offering a hands-on patient care position within a supportive local practice.
What you'll be doing
- Delivering a warm, professional welcome to every customer who walks through the door
- Guiding patients through frame selection, taking precise measurements, and fitting glasses to ensure comfort and clarity
- Conducting pre-screening checks and supporting optometrists with clinical tasks where required
- Handling customer queries, booking appointments, and managing collections efficiently
What we're looking for
- Previous retail, customer service, or optical experience is welcome, though full training will be provided
- A confident, approachable manner and a genuine enjoyment of helping people
- Good attention to detail and strong communication skills
- A flexible approach to supporting the wider team during busy periods
