We are looking for a customer-focused team member to take on a temporary 9 hours per week Optical Assistant job in Abingdon. This fixed-term position is based in a well-established practice in the heart of Oxfordshire, offering an immediate start for the right candidate.
What you'll be doing
- Welcoming patients to the practice and helping them feel at ease from the moment they arrive.
- Dispensing frames and lenses to suit individual customer needs and prescriptions.
- Pre-screening patients using diagnostic equipment before their eye examinations.
- Adjusting, repairing, and fitting spectacles to ensure a comfortable and accurate fit.
- Handling general enquiries, booking appointments, and managing reception duties.
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, and organised practice environment.
What we're looking for
- Previous experience within a customer service or retail environment, ideally within optics.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
- The ability to work well as part of a close-knit team in a busy environment.
- Confidence in dealing with the public face-to-face and over the phone.
