We are currently recruiting for an Optical Assistant jobs opening in Ashby de la Zouch, offering a permanent contract working 38.75 hours per week. This is an excellent opportunity to join a customer-focused optical practice in Leicestershire, where you will help patients choose the right frames and lenses while delivering exceptional service from consultation to collection.
What you'll be doing
- Welcoming patients to the practice and managing appointments in a friendly, professional manner
- Pre-screening patients by carrying out initial clinical tests such as autorefraction and visual acuity checks
- Dispensing a wide range of frames and lenses, tailoring recommendations to individual prescriptions, lifestyles, and budgets
- Fitting, adjusting, and repairing eyewear to ensure a comfortable and accurate fit for every customer
- Handling customer queries, processing orders, and managing collections over the counter and on the phone
- Working collaboratively with optometrists and support colleagues to keep the practice running smoothly and efficiently
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a customer service, retail, or patient-facing environment is beneficial, though full training is provided
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a natural passion for helping people
- Strong attention to detail and confidence working with numbers and technology
- A proactive, team-oriented approach and the ability to multitask in a busy retail environment
