We are recruiting for Optical Assistant jobs in Teignmouth, offering a permanent contract of 15.5 hours per week in a welcoming local practice based in this popular coastal town.
What you'll be doing
- Greet patients warmly as they arrive in the practice and help them feel at ease
- Guide customers through frame selection, taking into account their face shape, lifestyle, and prescription requirements
- Take accurate optical measurements and adjust, fit, and repair glasses to ensure a comfortable fit
- Book appointments, handle phone enquiries, and manage reception duties efficiently
- Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and presentable practice floor
- Support optometrists and dispensing opticians with pre-screening and daily clinic administration
What we're looking for
- Previous customer service or retail experience, ideally within a healthcare or optical setting
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
- Strong attention to detail and confidence working with numbers and measurements
- A team player who is happy to help wherever needed in a busy practice environment
- Willingness to learn about lens types, coatings, and optical products
