Core responsibilities include:

Interpreting spectacle prescriptions accurately.
Guiding patients through frame and lens choices, considering their visual needs and lifestyle.
Taking precise measurements for optimal lens positioning.
Expertly fitting and adjusting spectacles to ensure comfort and visual acuity.
Managing challenging dispensing cases, requiring a keen eye for detail and problem-solving.
Providing contact lens aftercare where relevant.

You will collaborate closely with our optometrists and the wider practice team. This partnership is key to offering a seamless patient journey, from initial examination to final spectacle collection. To excel as a Qualified Dispensing Optician at Louth Vision Centre, GOC registration as a Dispensing Optician (FBDO) is essential. You will need proven technical proficiency in:

Taking accurate measurements, including pupillary distance (PD) and fitting heights.
Demonstrating comprehensive lens knowledge, covering single vision, varifocal, and occupational designs.
Expert frame selection and adjustment for optimal patient comfort and aesthetics.

Contact lens competence, ideally with a CLO qualification, is a significant advantage for this role. You will also require excellent patient-facing skills, including clear and empathetic communication.
