About this role
Hear4U HO in Hinckley and Bosworth is seeking a Qualified Dispensing Optician to join their established practice. This role is central to delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring accurate optical correction.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Interpreting ophthalmic prescriptions accurately.
- Advising patients on appropriate frame and lens choices, considering both aesthetic and functional requirements.
- Taking precise measurements to ensure optimal spectacle fit.
- Fitting and adjusting spectacles to meet individual patient needs.
- Managing complex dispensing cases with expertise.
- Providing contact lens aftercare where applicable.
You will work collaboratively with the optometrist and the wider practice team. This partnership is key to providing a seamless patient journey from examination to final dispensing.

Qualified Dispensing Optician Requirements
Hear4U HO in Hinckley and Bosworth seeks a GOC-registered Dispensing Optician (FBDO) to join their team. You will be proficient in accurate ophthalmic measurements, including pupillary distance and segment heights, with a strong understanding of all lens types, from single vision to occupational designs.
Essential technical skills include expert frame selection and adjustment to ensure optimal patient comfort and vision. While not mandatory, a Contact Lens Optician (CLO) qualification would be a distinct advantage.
You must possess excellent patient-facing skills, demonstrating clear communication and empathy to provide a reassuring and professional experience. Additional qualifications in areas such as low vision, paediatric dispensing, or management training will further strengthen your application.
