DayNight Eyecare in Derby is seeking a Qualified Dispensing Optician to join their practice. This role is central to delivering exceptional patient care by accurately interpreting optical prescriptions.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Advising patients on appropriate frame and lens choices based on their visual needs and lifestyle.
- Taking precise measurements for spectacle fitting, ensuring optimal vision and comfort.
- Fitting and adjusting spectacles, addressing any patient concerns or technical requirements.
- Managing complex dispensing cases, requiring a high level of technical expertise.
- Providing contact lens aftercare, guiding patients through wear and maintenance.
You will work collaboratively with optometrists and the wider practice team, contributing to a seamless patient journey from examination through to dispensing. This is an opportunity to apply your skills within a dedicated optical setting.

Requirements
To excel as a Qualified Dispensing Optician at DayNight Eyecare in Derby, you will need to demonstrate a strong foundation in optical dispensing.
Essential Requirements:
- GOC Registration: Hold current registration with the General Optical Council as a Dispensing Optician (FBDO).
- Technical Proficiency:
- Accurate patient measurements, including interpupillary distance (PD) and optical heights.
- Comprehensive lens knowledge, encompassing single vision, varifocal, and occupational lens types.
- Expertise in frame selection and precise frame adjustment.
- Patient Care: Excellent patient-facing skills, characterised by clear, empathetic communication and a commitment to patient satisfaction.
- Contact Lens Competence: A Contact Lens Optician (CLO) qualification is highly advantageous.
Additional qualifications such as low vision or paediatric dispensing experience, or management training, would further strengthen your application.
